Higher Level Teaching Assistant/Pastoral Lead
 
Contract: Permanent (39 weeks per year) 
Hours: 28 hours a week
Salary: E15 FTE £22,911 (Actual Salary £15,171)

Pilgrim Primary Academy is looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and committed Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join our inclusive SEND team. As part of a wider pastoral team, this role involves identifying pupil barriers to learning, planning a variety of interventions and programmes to support pupils' regulation of feelings and behaviour. You will need to be flexible and able to support children who struggle with social interactions and self-regulation at key times of the day (including transitions and at break/lunchtimes).
 
As an HLTA in our SEND team, you will work closely with our SENCo and be required to lead a small group of wider staff with pastoral duties. Therefore, the ability to manage time effectively (and that of others) is crucial. The ability to work sensitively with various stakeholders is a must; pupils, staff, parents and other agencies. The role will also include an element of working with the family when appropriate to ensure a level of consistency of approach. As an HLTA working in school, you will also be required to work with whole classes providing some planned release sessions as well as working with groups and individual children within the classroom.
 
You should:
  • Be driven by a passion and commitment to inclusive education and raising standards for all
  • Treat pupils with dignity, building a relationships rooted in mutual respect, and at all times observing proper boundaries appropriate to a teacher's professional position
  • Have experience of covering whole classes within the primary age range and demonstrate the confidence to work with a class in the absence of the teacher
  • Be eager to work collaboratively in a wider team and be adaptable and open to new ideas and practices
  • Be a fast and highly flexible thinker, being able to deal with change and unpredictability positively with a 'can-do' attitude
  • Be emotionally resilient and self-aware - able to recognise when to call on others to support you
  • Take a lead role in developing and implementing practices which reflect the school's commitment ot positive behaviour and emotional well being
  • Be able to work closely with SLT - SENCO, Staff, Parents, EWO, PSA and liaise with other outside agencies

Cleaner
 
Contract: Permanent (41 weeks per year)
Hours: 10 hours a week
Salary: A1 FTE £17,364
Start Date: Required from September 2020
 
We are looking to recruit a new cleaner to join our friendly team starting in September 2020. Duties include general cleaning of classrooms, offices, corridors and washrooms. You will be required to work 41 weeks per year (10 hours per week, 3.15-5.15pm Monday to Friday) plus a week's deep clean in the Summer Holidays (30 hours) with flexibility for extra cleaning throughout the day if required.
 
Willingness to undertake training to support the role is required.

Meal Time Assistant
 
Contract: Permanent (39 weeks per year)
Hours: 10 hours a week
Salary: A1 FTE £17,364
Start Date: Required from September 2020
 
We are looking for a caring Mealtime Assistant (MTA) who can interact with the children and undertake the responsibility of supervising and ensuring the safety of the children at all times. You will be required to work for two hours a day (11.30-1.30), Monday to Friday. The main duties of the role are, to assist with the well-being of pupils during lunchtime. To supervise the children in the dining areas encourage them to use good table manners, ensure they clear away their plates and wipe up any spills. Outside on the playground, to play safely and co-ordinate or initiate games for the pupils.
 
Experience of working with children is not essential, just the passion to help improve the life chances of children within a school environment whilst being prepared to work inside and outside in all weathers.
 
Willingness to undertake training to support the role is required.
